How I use data about you
This is a personal portfolio. It sets no cookies, its analytics are privacy-friendly, and the only personal data I get is what you choose to send me.
Who I am
I’m Naomi Shore, and I’m the controller for any personal data described here. You can contact me about anything on this page at hello@naovixen.com .
Purposes and lawful basis
If you email me, I use your name, email address and anything in your message to reply to you and deal with whatever you asked about. My lawful basis is legitimate interests: responding to people who contact me about work, roles or my writing.
I don’t use your data for marketing, I don’t add you to mailing lists, and I don’t make automated decisions about you.
What stays on your device
If you choose light or dark mode, that choice is saved in your browser’s local storage so the site remembers it. It never leaves your device, and you can clear it at any time in your browser settings.
Who else sees it
Cloudflare hosts this site and may keep short-lived logs, including IP addresses, to keep it secure. It also forwards email sent to hello@naovixen.com to my personal inbox, where my email provider stores it. Both act as processors under contract. Cloudflare is based in the US, so your data may be processed outside the UK, with the safeguards UK law requires.
As part of hosting, Cloudflare also runs Web Analytics: a small script on each page that counts page views and measures how quickly pages load, without cookies or local storage, and without tracking you across sites or building a profile of you. If you turn JavaScript off or block the script, you just aren’t counted, and the site works the same.
How long I keep it
I delete email conversations 12 months after our last contact, unless we’re still in touch or I need to keep something for a legal reason.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can:
- ask for a copy of the personal data I hold about you
- ask me to correct it if it’s wrong
- ask me to delete it
- object to me using it, or ask me to restrict how I use it
Email me to make a request. I’ll reply within one month.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your data, please tell me first so I can try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint (opens in new tab) or by calling 0303 123 1113.
